Types of Cuckoo Clocks

The chalet clock is the most popular type. It has a very traditional A-frame that we’ve all seen at some point. The clock face of this unique and detailed wooden cuckoo clock has a chalet house shape which is traditional in the Black Fores region and the Alps. Every timepiece has different carvings that represent traditional front-of-the-house scenes.
These can be people dancing, chopping wood, playing games, drinking beer or even animal scenes that include the birds and other wildlife in that area. There can be gardens, forests and windmills around it as well. Oftentimes, some of the figurines move when the bird pops out to tell the time. This is a very colourful piece with bright tones and life in the 18th and 19th centuries.
